Prerequisites


  • Before you begin, ensure that you have the following:
    1. An AWS account.
    2. An Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volume.
    3. You should be familiar with the services and resources that you are backing up.
  • AWS Backup currently supports the following services:
    1. Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
    2. Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS)
    3. Amazon DynamoDB
    4. Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) and Amazon Aurora
    5. AWS Storage Gateway
  • When new AWS services become available, enable AWS Backup to use those services.
    1. To configure the services used with AWS Backup
    2. Sign in to the AWS Management Console, and open the AWS Backup console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/backup. Images
    3. In the navigation pane, choose Settings. Images
    4. On the Service opt-in page, choose Configure resources. Images
    5. On the Configure resources page, use the toggle switches to enable or disable the services used with AWS Backup. Choose Confirm when your services are configured.
